QR wants to be more then a gimmick

I see a lot of this and it hurts.
I wonder why anyone besides a QR obsessed company would scan it? If QR is being used as a curiosity piece of marketing, I feel like it takes away from what the user experience could be. Is this advertising or graffiti? I personally have mixed feelings about this. One side of me feels that atleast people are trying, and this advances the adoption of QR ( kinda ) – but there is just such a big disconnect between what the QR ad is, and what is links to. Maybe this is the point of guerrilla advertising, to hope that a random impression helps me sell a book. After all, I did scan it.
Looks like an opportunity.
